About SSRC

The mission of the Suydam Street Reformed Church is that of formal worship and active service in the community. Through worship, mission projects and social (justice) outreach programs we hope to minister to the total needs of people and to give them a sense of belonging to God’s family.

Suydam Street Reformed Church is a bi-lingual, multi-cultural congregation located in the city of New Brunswick.

We are a church in the mainstream of Protestant tradition, believing in Jesus Christ, the son of god and savior of all who put their faith in him. We believe our congregation is part of the One, Holy, Universal, and Apostolic Church, the Body of Christ.

The word Reformed in our name refers to the churches which grew out of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s, specifically those whose heritage goes back to the reforming work of John Calvin in Switzerland. Today our name reminds us that as Christians, we always need our lives to be “Reformed” according to the Word of God.

Our worship is Biblical and Liturgical with a strong emphasis on involving everyone and praising God. We celebrate Holy Communion each month and invite all who believe and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ to participate.

We serve God and others in many ways; through active participation in community service, through gifts to those in need, and through support of our mission near and far… All for God’s Glory, Honor, and Praise.
